Aliens threaten the world order as zombies stumble through graveyards in Ed Wood’s notorious sci-fi, honourably badged one of the worst films ever made. Now newly restored by the BFI National Archive, this infamous sci-fi film continues to fascinate, long after legions of terrible B movies have been forgotten, for its stark refusal to conform to cinematic language or convention. The unique brainchild of one of cinema’s true outsiders. Composed of wildly disparate plot elements, absurd performances, pathetic special effects, a complete lack of continuity and endless posthumously recycled shots of its ‘star’ Bela Lugosi (filmed for another movie), Plan 9 From Outer Space is a one-of-a-kind experience that acts as a blissfully unaware self-satire of 50s sci-fi cinema and a tribute to Wood’s admirable devotion to filmmaking, despite his questionable talents. Extras · Restored by the BFI and presented in High Definition· Bride of the Monster (1955, 70 mins): arguably Ed Wood’s most ambitious film sees a classic ‘mad scientist’ tale unfold in classic Wood style! Reviews ‘A testament to a love of cinema and making all the wrong creative choices, 10/10’ Josiah Teal, Film Threat‘It's not so bad it's good. It's just good’ Marya E. Gates, Inverse‘The film has become so famous for its own badness that it's now beyond criticism’ Complete Guide to Cult Flicks and Trash Pics Key Selling Points · Newly restored by the BFI· One of the most notorious films ever made and a bonified cult classic· Almost starring Bela Lugosi
